Terms of use
These terms of use govern the use of rechtundgesetz.ch. The platform supports orientation, search and contextual understanding of publicly accessible Swiss legal information, but does not replace official publications or legal advice.
Content helps users find and understand structures. For binding questions, official sources or professional advice are decisive.
In the event of discrepancies, delays or technical errors, the official publications and competent authorities take precedence.
Ratings, tags, comments and links should remain factual, respectful and understandable.
Scope and acceptance
By accessing rechtundgesetz.ch or using the functions offered, these terms of use apply. Additional notices, technical rules or community rules may apply to individual areas.
Anyone who does not agree with these terms should not use the functions concerned.
Purpose of the platform
rechtundgesetz.ch facilitates access to publicly accessible Swiss legal information. This may include search functions, structured overviews, the SR classification, views of enactments and articles, editorial orientation texts, source references and community functions.
The platform is a privately operated information and orientation service. It is not an official publication platform and is not a substitute for Fedlex, the Federal Chancellery, courts, authorities or professional legal advice.
No legal advice
Content on rechtundgesetz.ch is general information. It may be incomplete, outdated, ambiguous, technically incorrect or unsuitable for a specific individual case. Use of the platform does not create an advisory, mandate or fiduciary relationship.
Anyone requiring a binding assessment should consult the official sources and, where necessary, contact a qualified professional or the competent authority.
Authoritative sources
Only official publications, competent authorities and courts are authoritative for legally binding versions, deadlines, entry into force, amendments and interpretations. rechtundgesetz.ch may import, normalise, link and present official data more clearly; this does not make the data published by rechtundgesetz.ch official.
Source references, data status information and links are intended to help users verify the origin and currency of content. Nevertheless, each user remains responsible for verifying important information against the official sources.
User account
Certain functions may require a user account. Information provided during registration and use must be accurate and must not infringe third-party rights. Login credentials must be kept confidential. Activities carried out through an account may be associated with that account.
An account can be deactivated or permanently deleted in the account settings. Deactivation blocks access but can generally be reversed. Deletion removes or anonymises personal account data, deletes private user data such as favourites, personal history, personal dossiers, templates and monitoring settings, and removes comments and personal community submissions.
Ratings and aggregated usage signals may be retained without a user reference where they are no longer personal data and serve the quality, security or improvement of the platform. rechtundgesetz.ch may temporarily block, restrict or delete accounts in cases of security risks, misuse, legal violations, spam, manipulation or serious breaches of these terms.
Community contributions
Community functions such as ratings, tags, comments or links are intended for classification and discussion. Contributions must be factual, respectful and relevant to the topic.
- No insulting, discriminatory, threatening, misleading or unlawful content.
- No advertising, mass comments, automated manipulation or artificial rating signals.
- No publication of confidential personal data, secrets or third-party copyrighted content without authorisation.
- No actions that impair the security, availability or integrity of the platform.
rechtundgesetz.ch may moderate, hide, move, label or delete contributions where this appears necessary for quality, security, traceability or legal compliance.
Public tag, assignment and reference proposals are additionally subject to the Community rules in the version explicitly confirmed when the proposal is submitted. Proposals may be published, editorially amended, merged, treated as duplicates, rejected or withdrawn by the submitting person. A paid product does not confer any entitlement to preferential moderation.
Rights in contributions
Anyone submitting their own contributions generally remains the holder of their rights in them. At the same time, rechtundgesetz.ch is granted a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, not necessarily limited geographically or in time, insofar as this is required to operate, display, moderate, secure, develop and promote the platform.
When an account is permanently deleted, comments and personal community submissions are removed. Structured ratings may be retained without a user reference as anonymised signals so that aggregated quality and relevance values are not unnecessarily distorted.
Private tags and their assignments are personal organisational data. They are not published as public community contributions and remain associated exclusively with the respective account.
Automated access and fair use
Automated access, scraping, load testing, API requests or similar uses must not impair stable operation or circumvent protective measures. Excessive, abusive or security-critical access may be blocked, throttled or logged.
Where possible, official legal data should be obtained directly from the designated official sources. rechtundgesetz.ch is not intended as a bulk-data interface or as a substitute for official data services.
Rankings, relevance and presentation
The platform may sort and highlight content according to relevance, use, community signals, data status, classification or editorial criteria. Such presentations are technical or editorial orientation aids and do not constitute a statement about legal importance, correctness or prospects of success in a specific case.
External links and third-party content
rechtundgesetz.ch may link to external websites, official sources or third-party providers. rechtundgesetz.ch is not responsible for their content, availability, privacy or security. External links are intended to be selected carefully, but may change or be temporarily unavailable.
Security notices
Security vulnerabilities, malfunctions, data leaks or content susceptible to misuse should be reported responsibly. It is prohibited to exploit vulnerabilities, access third-party data, circumvent safeguards or intentionally disrupt the platform.
Availability and changes
rechtundgesetz.ch may change, restrict, extend, temporarily disable or discontinue functions at any time. There is no entitlement to permanent availability, specific data status, unchanged presentation, uninterrupted community functions or permanent storage of individual content.
Paid monthly subscriptions
User+ and Team/Professional are offered exclusively as subscriptions billed monthly. The subscription automatically renews for another month unless it is cancelled before the next renewal. There is no free trial period and no annual subscription. Price, currency, next renewal and the essential product features are displayed before purchase.
Cancellation stops automatic renewal and takes effect at the end of the monthly period already paid for. Access remains available until this confirmed end of the period. Periods already paid for are generally not refunded; mandatory statutory claims and expressly approved administrative exceptions remain reserved.
If a payment fails, subscription-based access may be restricted immediately in accordance with the rule shown for the product or may continue during a configured grace period. Payment, invoicing and portal processes are handled through the designated payment service.
Team accounts, data allocation and leaving a team
A Team/Professional subscription includes one owner and the stated number of seats. Team ownership, team access entitlement and personal billing ownership are separate. While the team owner and billing owner are the same person, that person manages the live contract; invitations and organisational team administration follow the team role. Business teams are advised to use organisation-managed business email addresses.
Team ownership may be transferred only to an active member of the existing team if the current Team/Professional subscription has first been provider-confirmed for cancellation at the end of the current period and the target user has no other live team or billing lifecycle outside the target team. Payment methods, payment-provider customers, billing-portal rights and historical invoices are not transferred to the new owner. The already paid team entitlement remains attached to the existing team until the confirmed period end.
After the ownership transfer, the expiring subscription cannot be taken over or reactivated by the new owner. Only after its final provider-confirmed termination may the new owner start Team/Professional for the same existing team through a new explicit checkout using their own payment and billing details. The team, workspace, memberships and existing team data remain intact; the new billing contract does not create a new team. Historical billing data remains exclusively with the respective billing owner. An ownership transfer by itself triggers neither a new payment nor a refund.
For unambiguous team administration, the current owner may see the login/system email address stored in the user account of active team members in the member administration. Ordinary team members do not receive this address through the member directory. The display is used in particular for reliable identification before removal or ownership transfer and does not grant access to personal content.
Personal accounts, personal favourites, histories and personal dossiers remain associated with the respective user account. They do not transfer to the owner when a user joins a team and remain with the user when they leave or are removed. Content in an area explicitly designated as a team workspace, by contrast, remains associated with the team. Active members may read and edit team dossiers; only the owner may permanently delete them or export the entire team workspace. The owner does not automatically gain access to members’ personal content or individual quota details.
Anyone who expressly transfers a personal dossier to the team workspace irrevocably moves its association from the personal account to the team. No personal copy is created. The dossier remains with the team even if the person who transferred it leaves, is removed or deletes their account; personal creator references are removed when an account is permanently deleted.
After the Team subscription ends, the team workspace may remain available to the owner for 30 days in read-only and export mode and is then archived. Members have no team access during this period. A later reactivation may make the archived workspace available again, provided the data is still retained.
Dossier monitoring and notifications
Optional dossier monitoring technically compares monitored legal content with the version currently maintained as current on rechtundgesetz.ch. Detected changes are orientation notices, not official amendment notifications, deadline monitoring or legal advice. No guarantee is given for completeness, currency or timely delivery; the official sources remain authoritative.
Eligible users can disable email summaries or select a daily, monthly or annual cycle. Necessary security, account and subscription emails are independent of this setting.
Liability
rechtundgesetz.ch is operated with reasonable care. Nevertheless, errors, delays, outages, data gaps or misinterpretations cannot be excluded. To the extent permitted by law, liability for damage arising from use or unavailability of the platform is excluded.
This exclusion of liability does not apply where mandatory law provides otherwise.
Privacy
Information on the processing of personal data, cookies, first-party relevance measurement and third-party analytics can be found in the Privacy policy and on the Cookie and privacy settingspage.
Changes to these terms
These terms of use may be amended if functions, legal requirements or organisational processes change. The version published on rechtundgesetz.ch at the relevant time is authoritative.
To the extent permitted, Swiss law applies. Mandatory statutory rights of users remain reserved.
