The child of foreign parents may on application be naturalised according to a simplified procedure if he or she meets the following requirements:
at least one grandparent was born in Switzerland or it is credibly demonstrated that he or she acquired a right of residence;
at least one parent has obtained a permanent residence permit, has been resident in Switzerland for at least ten years, and attended compulsory schooling in Switzerland for at least five years;
the child was born in Switzerland;
the child holds a permanent residence permit and has attended compulsory schooling in Switzerland for at least five years.
The application must be submitted before the child reaches the age of 25.
The naturalised child acquires the citizenship of his or her commune and canton of residence at the time of naturalisation.
